The National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL) harvests innovative technology from the commercial and non-defense marketplace, ensuring the development of better, cheaper, and faster defense capabilities. We offer a unique and simplified approach to rapidly develop, demonstrate, and assess prototypes that address a range of operational and installation needs, from individual Warfighter technology up to large-scale installation projects. NSTXL delivers technology to the Warfighter by serving as a one-stop shop to match government requirements with innovative private-sector and academic solutions.


Each of our OTAs is a distinct member-based not-for-profit with its own membership that is managed and serviced by NSTXL. Currently, our OTAs have more than 900 corporate, non-profit, educational, and financial institution members. For these members, NSTXL offers opportunities to bid on government contracts, education and training, and live/virtual forums on a wide variety of topics.


Job Description

We are seeking an Event Director with a proven track record of developing and growing event teams and departments, while focusing on the creation and implementation of go-to-market strategies and support services for both our emerging and established event portfolios. The Event Director will orchestrate every aspect of departmental planning, management, and execution, aimed at optimizing client satisfaction and revenue generation. The ideal candidate must have outstanding leadership, strategic foresight, and a commitment to delivering extraordinary experiences for both our internal team and clients.


Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing events team, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Oversee all aspects of event department planning, management, and execution, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and client needs.
  • Develop, implement, and manage event processes and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the event department.
  • Manage event department budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with marketing growth and business development team to implement strong pipeline management practices for events, including identifying target attendees, qualifying leads, and tracking event-driven opportunities.
  • Collaborate with brand team to ensure cohesive brand experience across the all-event offerings.
  • Monitor and evaluate event performance metrics to identify improvement areas and drive continuous optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure exceptional event experiences.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and industry partners to ensure successful partnerships and enhance the success of events.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in planning, managing, and executing various event types of scaling sizes including tradeshows, conferences, hybrid events, collaboration/networking sessions, and virtual events.
  • Minimum of 4 years directly managing a team of 3 or more people.

  • Proven track record of developing, implementing, managing, and optimizing department processes from the ground up, including lead and pipeline tracking for events.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or equivalent certification is desired.
  • Expert in tracking and compiling event and department metrics to ensure accurate reporting and event debriefs for all stakeholders.
  • Excellent financial acumen, with demonstrated experience in budget management and revenue optimization.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with event management and marketing automation software, such as Bizzabo, Zoom/ZoomGov, and HubSpot.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, while supporting event staff with program deliverables when needed.
