About NSTXL

The National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL) harvests innovative technology from the commercial and non-defense marketplace, ensuring the development of better, cheaper, and faster defense capabilities. We offer a unique and simplified approach to rapidly develop, demonstrate, and assess prototypes that address a range of operational and installation needs, from individual Warfighter technology up to large-scale installation projects. NSTXL delivers technology to the Warfighter by serving as a one-stop shop to match government requirements with innovative private-sector and academic solutions.


Each of our OTAs is a distinct member-based not-for-profit with its own membership that is managed and serviced by NSTXL. Currently, our OTAs have more than 600 corporate, non-profit, educational, and financial institution members. For these members, NSTXL offers opportunities to bid on government contracts, education and training, and live/virtual forums on a wide variety of topics.


Job Description

NSTXL is seeking an enthusiastic self-starter to direct and lead our Technology Scouting for the Space Enterprise Consortium (SpEC) Other Transaction Authority (OTA) program. NSTXL is the manager for SpEC which aims to bridge the gap between military buyers and the commercial space sector. SpEC’s goal is to identify technology trends and solutions quickly/ effectively for the SSC mission by fostering collaboration among military, commercial, and academic innovators. The Tech Scout is responsible for the overall effective exploration of technical trends and the innovators within the technical domain. He/she will work directly with our government customers and collaborate with NSTXL staff to strategically align the tech scouting with the SSC mission, SpEC program goals, NSTXL membership growth and ecosystem engagements.


Responsibilities

  • Explore, scout, and map the trends from academia, industry, start-up, and vendor ecosystems around various emerging technologies that impact the SSC mission and S&T requirements.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and various industry events and build relationships with various Space ecosystem partners
  • Develop emerging Space technology strategies, technology impact profiles, and write high-level white papers around the various emerging Space technology ecosystems
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative market research, including venture funding analyses, market maps, competitive analyses, SWOT analyses, or product deep dives
  • Lead the day-to-day execution of technology assessment efforts for SpEC
  • Work with our government clients and commercial/academia innovators to ensure successful technological data integrity and collaboration
  • Actively and consistently engage with key stakeholders to maximize participation within the SpEC community (private sector, academia, and government)
  • Evaluate current and future technology and "know how" across the Space technology domain to create technical insight that informs the ideal technology road maps and SpEC customer

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in software, engineering, business, or related field
  • 5+ years of successful experience in the Space sector
  • Experience evaluating and integrating a range of Space technologies
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences
  • Experience engaging with U.S. Military stakeholders at GO/SES level
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Strong ethics

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Strong relationships and familiarity with relevant SSC and Space Ecosystem stakeholders
  • Active Secret clearance with ability to qualify for Top Secret clearance

Location:

  • Hybrid: El Segundo, CA area, Los Angeles Area
  • Travel for this position is estimated at 50% with key destinations to include, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, and Albuquerque, NM
